Why Do I Want to Bike Across America? |
Recently my friends asked me if I want to bike across the country for lung cancer. My first reaction was “why should I bike across the country for lung cancer”, I or any of my family members have not been affected by lung cancer. My second reaction was, “why not”, I’m going to be biking across the country with some great friends and helping others while I do it. This is when I realized that initiation is the cure to terrible cancers such as lung cancer. I hope that my contribution will influence others to become more involved in a cause that might affect them in the future. |

Biography: |
I grew up in Gibson Island MD. I went to high school in New Hampshire at a boarding school called Holderness School. There I was on the almost every athletic team including skiing, hockey, lacrosse and rock climbing. In High school I did a winter camping trip for two weeks in the White Mountains where the temperature plummeted to -50 degrees Fahrenheit!!! Also, in High school I volunteered for two weeks to help restore New Orleans after the hurricane. This past winter I joined a NOLS course that took us backcountry “telemark-skiing” for two weeks in Wyoming, where we lived in igloos and hiked up mountains just to ski down them. In the summer I build log cabins in Colorado. I am a sailing instructor in my spare time. I have been on expeditions to Vietnam, China, Alaska and Bermuda. I am excited for this trip. |
